Kirkpatrick Applauds Dry Lake Wind Project Announcement
Prescott, AZ - Former State Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, the Democratic frontrunner in the race to represent Arizona's 1st Congressional District, today applauded the Salt River Project utility company's announcement that they will invest in Arizona's first commercial wind-energy farm. This new project is to be located in Navajo County, inside the 1st Congressional District.
Kirkpatrick has made energy independence and job creation through investment in wind and solar energy a central platform of her campaign for Congress.
"The Dry Lake Wind Project is exactly the sort of forward thinking project that Arizona needs to meet our state's energy demands," said Kirkpatrick. "By harnessing a renewable resource that this state has in abundance, Arizona can show the entire nation how we can break the grip that foreign oil has on this country.
"Investments in alternative energy sources like wind and solar are crucial pieces of a broader strategy that is based on generating our own energy right here at home."
In the state legislature, Kirkpatrick has a proven track record of support for alternative energy sources. She voted for tax credits to promote solar energy and she sponsored legislation that would facilitate homeowners installing solar energy devices.
