KRDE: Grant Helps Renewable Job Training Programs at C.A.C. Kick Into Gear

Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick is announcing that Central Arizona College (CAC) in Coolidge will provide new job training programs through the Pinal County Alternative Energy Project, thanks in part to a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
By developing key partnerships with solar and biofuels projects throughout Greater Arizona, the programs will be able to prepare 745 people, including returning Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, to compete in this cutting edge field.
“Creating jobs and getting folks back to work is my top priority in these tough times, and this program will give Arizonans the tools to succeed in the fast-growing renewable energy industry,” said Rep. Kirkpatrick. “It will provide workers with the opportunity to learn skills in high demand, helping them secure high-paying positions. Building a better-trained workforce will also benefit the district as a whole, putting us in great position to attract new employers. Steps like this will help us come out of the downturn stronger than ever.”
