Casa Grande Dispatch: Kirkpatrick calls for 5% Congressional Pay Cut

U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick says members of Congress make too much money and she hopes to convince her colleagues to take a 5 percent pay cut.

On Tuesday Kirkpatrick introduced legislation asking members of Congress to do just that. If passed, the proposal will not take effect until 2026, but the congresswoman told the Casa Grande Dispatch that she is taking the first step by returning 5 percent of her 2026 annual pay to the government coffers.

“This is not too much to ask Congress at a time when people are hurting — and Pinal County is really hurting with an 11.8 percent unemployment rate,” the 1st District Democrat said...
