Kirkpatrick Raises a Staggering $800,000 in Third Quarter

It's that time again: Our congressional candidates are going to start releasing their quarterly fundraising totals.

The first one we've seen comes from Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick, who has raised more than $800,000 in her race against Republican Speaker of the Arizona House Andy Tobin. That's a staggering figure and sets a new quarterly record for Kirkpatrick. (We haven't done the actual math, but our guess is, that comes to about 50 cents for every fundraising email that has hit our mailbox.)

Kirkpatrick's press release:

The Kirkpatrick for Arizona campaign today unveiled it had set another fundraising record, bringing in more than $800,000 in the 3rd quarter. This haul puts Kirkpatrick in a strong position heading into the start of early voting, and brings her total amount raised this cycle to nearly $2.7 million.

“Ann continues to set fundraising records for this district because she has built a strong and diverse base of support,” said Kirkpatrick for Arizona Campaign Manager Nettie Haines. “Folks believe in Ann’s record of results and her history of standing up for veterans, communities and Arizona families. That’s why she has vastly outraised Andy Tobin, who continues to run on a platform of more congressional dysfunction and his out-of-touch record — including his support of the strategy that led to last year’s government shutdown.”

Congressional District 1 includes the northern part of Pima County, as well as most of the rural eastern half of the state, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon and the state's northern Native American reservations.
