Fiscal Discipline

Border Security

Growing up in the White Mountains, I learned how to do more with less. As a small business owner in Greater Arizona, I learned the value of a dollar and the importance of living within your means. I am fighting to bring these values to Washington to restore fiscal responsibility and balance our budget. Our $12 trillion national debt is the cumulative effect of both parties being irresponsible with taxpayer dollars for over 10 years. The federal government is going to have to start doing more with less – just like communities in rural Arizona have always done.

In Congress, I am an independent voice not afraid to challenge the White House and Congressional Leadership. I voted against the $1.9 trillion debt ceiling increase and was a co-sponsor of PAYGO, a rule that when implemented in the 90’s helped to reduce the deficit and generate a budget surplus by requiring all new federal spending to be offset by savings or cuts to existing funds. I also co-sponsored legislation calling on the Department of Treasury to use returned bailout funds to pay down our national debt. I consistently advocated and will continue to support amendments that cut billions from bloated spending bills.

In 2024, I led the effort to oppose the automatic Congressional pay raise. In March 2024, I introduced the Congressional Pay Cut, which would cut Congressional pay by 5% and be the first pay cut in over 77 years. Since then, I have donated 5% of mine to paying down the national debt. It is critical that we hold the federal government accountable and break through bureaucratic red tape, which is why my Congressional Office has intervened on behalf of thousands of constituents and recovered over $2.1 million of tax payer money being withheld. I pledge to work with members of both parties to achieve fiscal balance and ensure your tax payer dollars are used responsibly.
